Pensions UK is the voice of pension schemes that together provide a retirement income to more than 30 million savers in the UK and invest £2 trillion in the UK and abroad. They engage with over 2,500 organisations, with nearly 16,000 contacts within their membership and a further 17,000 in the pensions and financial services industries.

The challenge

Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA) had made the decision to change its name/brand identity to Pensions UK .

They wanted to change their name to better reflect the significant role pensions play in the lives of UK citizens, and to provide a trusted, authoritative voice advocating for better pensions for schemes, savers, and the industry.

Changing their name meant a lot of technical changes had to be made across multiple member facing integrated platforms. Pensions UK use Fonteva on Salesforce to manage their organisation. The new name and branding this needed to be changed right across Pension UK’s Salesforce CRM, websites, member portal, email templates and automation systems. Quite a daunting task to complete in a short time.

The solution

Zentso worked intensely in collaboration with the Pensions UK team and three other separate software providers, providing tools, insight and expertise to come up with a rapid-deployment plan for the challenge.

Zentso used innovative ways to automatically audit the Custom Code, Metadata Components, Declarative and Programmatic assets in Salesforce for all instances of their old domain name.

Following this, the Zentso team found automated ways to rapidly update:
• 69 Email templates
• 88 Automated workflows and 129 triggers
• 285 web pages containing 123 components that needed altering
• Thousands of Apex classes and metadata settings
This all went live in sync with changing the web and email domains alongside all logos and branding within the Salesforce application and Fonteva Member website, including new fonts, colour schemes and styling.

In addition, any documents generated within the CRM were automatically updated with the new branding. Staff email addresses and usernames were also amended.

Fonteva is the core system used by Pensions UK to support their Membership Management services – including event management. Naming, styling and webinar access controls all had to be updated as part of the rebrand and to give members a smooth transition experience. This included the new member registration process whilst also ensuring the single sign on process continued to work throughout the domain change.

The bottom line

Changing brand right across all your digital systems in a short period of time is no mean feat. Zentso drew upon decades of experience to make the audit and execution of the change process smooth and rapid. The website and logo are often seen as the most significant part of a re-brand project. However, updating the Salesforce/Fonteva environment was essential to maintain a cohesive brand.
